All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. Children need a healthy amount of fun play in their lives for various beneficial reasons. Play allows a child to develop imagination, dexterity, and physical-cognitive-emotional strength. It is important for a healthy brain development.

But many a times, children get so burdened with school work and homework and assignments that it eats into their play time. Here are a number of things you can do to make their lives more fun and playful.

  • Set aside at least one hour of free time in your child’s schedule for playing.

  • Ensure they engage in different types of play - individual, team, role-play, large motor, small motor, etc.

  • Your home should be conducive for your child to play. Stock up the crafts supply and toys regularly. This will encourage your child creatively.

  • Engage your child in real work from time to time. This will not only make them responsible but also enrich their play time with new ideas and roles to enact.

  • Help your child . Then help them find activities that best suit their nature. They might find more success and satisfaction in it.

  • Limit the TV time to 1-2 hours a day. This will build your child’s appetite to play.

Playing is critical to the healthy growth and development of a child. Children learn to solve problems, develop gross motor skills, and get along with the others. It is important for you as a parent to encourage your child to play.
