A few symptoms include fever, nausea, vomiting, constipation, abdominal pains with cramps and chills.

The following dietary advices can help with the symptoms of diverticulitis:

  • Foods that are heavily greased, like butter, cheese, chocolate, cream, ice cream, fried food and gravies should be avoided altogether. Infact, lessen the intake of carbohydrates in your diet.

  • Constipation puts excess pressure on the colon. Increasing the intake of salts will soften the stools and prevent apana vayu from getting aggravated.

  • Increase the intake of healthy oils and fats. It nourished the rasa and mamsa dhatu, which in turn strengthens the colon wall.

  • Eat foods with sweet and sour tastes. Avoid spicy foods.

  • Your diet should include unrefined food, like whole grain cereals, bran,  and lentils

  • Green leafy vegetable such as lettuce, cabbage, celery, pumpkin and squash should be a huge part of your diet
